Introducing the New Yorker iPad App (Please click onto this link to view the YouTube video)

A couple of weeks ago, I attended Semi Permanent in Melbourne, “a forum born from a desire to unite the world’s design communities with a premium creative experience.”

I was particularly interested in hearing from Scott Daddich who spoke about taking a tangible editorial piece and placing it into a digital application. He discussed browser interaction and how his team overcame design issues to create a successful magazine iPad App.

Scott shared with us an informative and hilarious you tube video that I would also like to share that explains how the “New Yorker” iPad App works.

Sam Eyles, Perseverance – A Journey in Construction, Deconstruction, Reduction and Abstraction

Categories: Creativity

Performance Frontiers are currently exhibiting work from Brisbane Based artist Sam Eyles. The paintings come from a body of work titled Perseverance: A Journey in Construction, Deconstruction, Reduction & Abstraction produced in 2010. Through a considered process based methodology these paintings were born out of the process of deconstructing a previous body of large format drawings from a series entitled 1/6

These paintings offer a minimal aesthetic obscuring an underlying complexity in both concept and structure. With fluid drawing and gestural mark making the underpinning strengths. Surfaces evolve and multiply as sedimentary layers to reveal inner most experiences. Flowing dark lines dissect largely concealed areas of paint and emotional reflections, the underlying history of the work.

“I work as though aspiring to an understanding and enlightenment of the original concept, that through deconstruction of an artwork I will work towards a more absolute resolution of the idea”.
