Problem Solving
Goldstein and Levin (1987) define problem solving as a “higher-order cognitive process that requires the modulation and control of more routine or fundamental skills”. Problem solving is considered the most complex of all intellectual functions which involves problem finding and problem shaping.
The problems individuals face can be large or small, simple or complex, and easy or difficult to solve. Regardless of the nature of the problems, a fundamental part of every individual’s role is finding ways to solve them.
